For many, the table feels like the last thing on the list. After hours spent on menus, and cooking, the table always feels like an afterthought. But here’s why I think that shouldn't be the case - I’ve learnt that special moments and memories are created from more than just a good dish. It’s the accumulation of multiple components - the company, the ambiance, the traditions, the memories from years past, those special holiday dishes your mother bought out once a year, the family honey jar, it’s the sentimentality and nostalgia that helps form our special moments - and that’s why effort that goes beyond the kitchen is felt, and not just tasted.

My overall philosophy in the kitchen extends to the table too, keep it all simple - don't be fooled into thinking that elaborate is beautiful. Being a minimalist is a thought out choice, it’s not the absence of things… rather, it’s making sure that the things you do use, go a long way. That they add layers of beauty and meaning in an otherwise empty space.

So choose wisely, keep things tonal to create that soft cohesive look,  I love fresh white lines with soft vintage florals. Apples are the perfect way to to combine practical and sentimental - they act as great place card holders whilst simultaneously reminding us all to  have a sweet new year, wooden place card holders are another way to add that little holiday touch, they can be used tied around individual honey jars, or threaded with some pretty ribbon and placed on the plate to add to that soft romantic feel. These place cards are great for gifting to - tie around a bottle of wine, or basket of fresh baked goods you’re sending to a friend.
